Antenatal teacher trained and qualified by the NCT offer a whole range of alternative Birth and Babycare Courses. We hope that one of these formats will suit you.We offer some courses for couples and others with a mix of Women Only and Couples sessions. If the session is a ‘couples’ session it is assumed that the men/birth partners will attend as the session will aim to meet some of their needs. In cases where the man cannot be, or does not wish to be, so involved we provide course formats with only one or two partners evenings, to provide an opportunity for them to know a little of what to expect regarding labour and early parenthood.

The course prices are set by the teachers who donate at least 20% of the course fee to the NCT.

Concessionary places are available for those in special circumstances, so if you feel that the courses are too expensive or that you cannot afford them please feel free to make further enquiries, by phone on the Booking Line number (0207 7229 8568). Never let the price of the course be the reason why you have not had access to the information that antenatal teachers registered with NCT are able to provide!

The formats are generally as follows:

Intensive Labour Days Price £175

These one day courses for women only or couples are sometimes weekdays and sometimes weekends, with around 10-12 hours class time with a breastfeeding session one week day morning or evening-

• 1, 6 hour day session (some women only, some for couples)
• 1, 2 hour session on baby care and breastfeeding
• 1, 2 hour postnatal session.

These courses are held in either a community centre or teacher’s homes and tend to be for groups of around 8-10.

Intensive 2 Day Workshop Price £220

These courses are run over 2 days, with an extra morning or few hours for breastfeeding and a couples evening. Partners and labour companions are very welcome to attend the day sessions (or part of the day sessions) if they can, however they are not expected. All partners and labour companions are encouraged to attend the Couples Evening which is designed to provide some information for those who have not been able to attend the day sessions.

Total 18 hours tuition time -

• 2, day sessions of at least 5 hours held on a weekday (with an additional 2 hr. breastfeeding session on another morning)
• 1, 2 to 3 hour partners/companions evening
• 1, 2 hour postnatal session.

These courses are held either at a teachers home or community centre and tend to be groups of around 8-10 couples/women.

Intensive 5 Session Evening Couples Course Price £250

Total 14 hours of course time -

• 5 , 2 and half hour evening sessions, before the baby is born
• 1 breast feeding session on one of evening sessions
• 1, 2 and half hour postnatal session.

These courses are held in a community centre or teachers home and tend to be for groups of around 8-10 couples, most women are accompanied by their partner or a labour companion for the sessions as specified.

Intensive Sat/WeekdayWorkshop Price £220

Total 16 hours tuition time -

• 2, day sessions of at least 7 hours held on a Saturday and a weekday, before the birth, incl. a breastfeeding session.
• 1, 2 hour postnatal session.

• These courses are usually for groups of around8-10 couples. Partners or labour companions tend to come to the Saturday session but the are welcome any time.

Intensive PM Couples/AM Women Course Price £220

Total 20 hours of course time -

• 3 to 4, 2 hour evening sessions for couples and labour companions
• 3 to 4, 2 to 4 hour morning/day sessions for women (including a 2 hour breastfeeding session)
• 2, 2 hour sessions after the birth, including the reunion party.

These courses are generally groups of around 8-10 couples. Partners or labour companions tend to attend only the evening sessions.

Intensive Weekend Workshops Price £280

These courses are run over a weekend on Saturday and Sunday. A breastfeeding session is included during one of the days. Partners and labour companions are encouraged to attend.

Total 18 hours tuition time -

• 2, day sessions of 8 hours (9.00-5.00) held on a Saturday and Sunday
• 1, 2 hour postnatal session.

These courses are held at a teachers home and tend to be groups of around 7 couples.
